Parent Homework Tips:
-HOMEWORK helps build GOOD WORK HABITS
-CHECK & SIGN your child's AGENDA for homework everyday
-Choose a QUIET PLACE & TIME for your child's homework
-GUIDE your child, but DON'T DO your child's homework
Homework Assignments:
All grade 3 homework assignments will be written in your child's weekly agenda. They will be a mix of literacy and numeracy skills. Homework will be assigned Monday - Thursday (with usually home reading or technology weekend learning). Students must hand their homework in on time unless they have a family emergency. In this case, parents are to write a note in their child's agenda.

Reading is Simply Essential (RISE):
In addition to written homework, students are required to read at least 20 minutes a day. Encourage your child to:
- Read aloud to you & discuss what they are reading
-Choose books they enjoy from home, the school or public library: fiction, non-fiction, comics, magazines, class homereading and other materials.
-Choose books at their "JUST RIGHT" reading level
-JUST RIGHT doesn't mean just being able to pronounce words, it mean UNDERSTANDING! Test your child's understanding by discussing as you read:
- Who are the characters? What is their personality?
- Where is the problem or adventure in the story?
- Does this story remind you of anything?
- What do you think will happen next?
